Harry Josh and Hung Vanngo Come Out on Top at the 2019 CAFAs
Last night at the Fairmount Royal York Hotel in Toronto, top honours were handed out to winners of the 2019 Canadian Arts & Fashion Awards, with a few notable CAFA firsts. The country’s authority on all things style introduced two new categories this year: Hair Artist of the Year and Makeup Artist of the Year. The former went to Harry Josh—go-to stylist to stars like Gisele Bündchen, Deepika Padukone, Irina Shayk, Kate Bosworth and Rose Byrne—while the latter went to Hung Vanngo, a favourite of Bella Hadid’s, Sophie Turner’s and Emily Ratajkowski’s. Ulta Beauty is Finally Coming to Canada
Cosmetics retail giant Ulta Beauty—the exclusive retailer of brands like Kylie Cosmetics and ColourPop — has set its sights on Canada as its first destination outside of the U.S. “Our first step in becoming a global beauty retailer will be to prepare to launch operations in Canada,” Ulta’s chief executive officer Mary Dillon said in a statement. “While we have years of attractive domestic growth ahead of us, we’ve been evaluating the potential for growth beyond U.S. borders for some time.” The company’s north-of-the-border plans include both brick-and-mortar and e-commerce operations, with no word yet on projected opening dates.
Lancôme Launches Makeup Line With Chiara Ferragni
In increasing efforts to remain relevant, Lancôme is veering more and more into influencer territory with their latest collaboration, tapping The Blonde Salad’s Chiara Ferragni for their latest makeup capsule collection. (See their last collab, with influencer Camila Coelho.) “It’s always been a dream of mine to work more in the beauty industry and whenever I post about beauty, people go crazy because they are so interested in all the products that I use,” the Instagram star told Harper’s Bazaar. The line includes a palette, mascara, liquid lipstick and solid lipstick, the latter of which are available in an entirely inoffensive range of pinks. In our minds, the best partnerships of past years have been ones with iconic French women like Caroline de Maigret and Sonia Rykiel.
